I think Twilight Sparkle as an allicorn is an awesome thing, but this still leaves uncertainty. Plus, they should've gone more in-depth about what was going on instead of rushing ahead. Also, I think there should have been more action and urgency rather than the cutie mark switcheroo situation. It was ok, but it could be a LOT better.
Look, I doubt any people will read this and no, this is not a crap comment, I don't like the people who are shoving thier opinions in peoples face like thier faces like thier opinions are facts, Its okay to say- " I think the episode wasent that great but it was still okay. " not " THE EPISODE SUCKED NOBODY LIKES HASBRO NOW CAUSE EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!" no, theres no right or wrong anser your opinion can be the episode was great or bad and don't be a troll and say. " MLP SUC " People have opinion but sometime should not point it out to everyone. Trying to stop the hate, Pixel
i think the episode was seriously rushed. like when Spike got the ponies to laugh why did Twilight stop him? and Rarity is a unicorn and there are plenty of pegasi that could clear the sky and i thought Twilight would have try the spell again or atleast do something instead of going straight to cry and sing sad songs... but the ending is awesome.
I liked it. I was honestly a bit surprised with how many people seemed to have a problem with the possible changes that might occur. In most cartoon shows, the characters are stuck in the same spot (not to mention age) for all time, and so I thought it was cool that Twilight actually moved forward a little bit.
I just hope they don't back out and make her lose the wings because of fan pressure...
What's that Derpy? The Hasbro employees are wuss-pants? I agree.
I really enjoyed the episode. Though like everyone else, I wish it were longer. The plot, and even the final moments where Twilight becomes an alicorn, would've been so much better if it were split into two or three parts. Or maybe even a movie! That would've been cool considering the plot and ending.
But I do understand that they had limitations this time around. They were only given 13 episodes instead of the usual 26, so they had to make do with what they had in the last episode of the season. And with that in mind, I think they did well with the limitations they had.
This episode was WAY too rushed. The plot's idea was excellent its execution was BEYOND shit. In fact this one is worst than the pony games episode, actually no this episode is worse than a clip show no not even that it was WORSE THEN A 90'S MLP EPISODE.(no offense to those who liked the 90s show). Here is the episodes worst feature the reason why twilight became an alicorn. NOT HER BECOMING ONE HERSELF BUT THE REASON.
Ok it was really stupid even for a kids show, so the writers want me to accept this as the reason: "Star swirled the bearded created a spell that would swap ponies cutie marks and thus change their destinies (firstly WHY?!? and secondly what would the purpose be of such a spell other then to use for revenge), however he could not create a failsafe for the spell (again obvious lack of depth thinking or more to emphsise the show's purpose). SO Celestia gives the book to twilight which had the spell and told her to create the failsafe without telling twilight what the spell did.(now firstly you would not tell someone to disarm a nuclear weapon without telling them the thing they are trying to disarm is a nuclear warhead that is just stupid. So why not tell twilight what the spell did. (ok at this point one can argue that celestia trusts her student to work this out but what if she failed or couldn't work out what the spell did?)) So twilight prematurely casts the spell "to see what it does" and what happens is the elements of harmony change the cutie marks of the other characters (this seems kinda important that the element has direct colloration with the user's cutie mark(also we are not really told what the spell was meant to do cause it only affected the elements users and the elements were created long after star swirl so my best bet is created the spell to test twilight and use star swirl as a platform as twilight seems to find him fascinating. However this theroy can't be correct as the show makes the point that it was star swirl's spell. (Also why couldn't anyone else work out the failsafe?)))))
In anycase this is where we start and (also notice twilight walks off screen after she did the spell mentioned before, so she didn't notice the elements changing from the time she casted the spell to the time she saw her friends...REALLY?) find out the mane 6's destiny has changed. and this is where the plot gets really plot holish. okay. 1. it was established in the cutie mark episode rainbowdash got her mark for racing and that was her destiny so why does it show rarity controlling the weather and claiming that is her destiny? Shouldn't she be trying to race if that how RD got her mark, as weather maintenence is a pegasus thing, so to make this episode work at this hole you must ignore some important details. 2. why weren't anypony else affected by the cutie swap spell? (but this hole can be filled with my theroy mentioned that celestia created the spell) 3. This is important...their MEMORIES! Okay how does a cutie mark change spell WIPE a memory HOW DOES THAT WORK?!?! Also note how it isn't explained we get the shot of them getting their memories back to get their personalities back but still. Also there seems to be another issue regarding the background ponies in which they react to the mane 6. This is most noticeable with FS and PP so how is that when FS is performing the ponies seem puzzled by her but then inmediatly remember pinkie when she jumps in front of everypony? But that isn't the problem is the problem is if they retained their memories then why didn't they question what Fluttershy was trying to do...
Anyway but the biggest problem is the failsafe (remember that, well I do) so to fix the spell they had to put their element on the pony while they were doing their special talent. NOW THIS IS THE BIG PROBLEM! IF THE SPELL WAS TO CHANGE THE PONIES CUTIE MARK HOW DO YOU FIX IT IF THEY ARE NOT AN ELEMENT BEARER!!!!! The fact is this episode was just the writers and hasbro ADVERTISING! Essentially they did this "Hey everyone remember this show is called Friendship is magic well we're going to spend the final demostrating how friendship can fix anything to lead up to the scene when you get to see the new toy you will be buying".
Overall out of 10 this episode gets a 1. If the season 4 opening is as bad as this I will not bother with this show anymore.
